One illustration describing why I don’t like “Internet of Things”

In this day and age, companies are actively building everyday appliances with Internet connectivity, connecting everything from smartphones and computers to toasters and refrigators. It is completely unnecessary and opens up a whole host of issues. After going through an archive of my Twitter data, it appears I saved the illustration below at some point since I started using Twitter in 2013. I wish I knew who I could credit, but I don’t, sadly. Reach out to me on the contact page if you know who to give credit to! This illustration is both funny in how ridiculous it looks, but also tragic in how accurate it is if ransomware happens and you’ve surrounded yourself with Internet-equipped gadgets. Frankly, this illustration might just be my new favorite photo to show people when they ask why I don’t own a smart speaker.
